The Welfare Consequences of Climate Displacement

With support from the Mellon Urban Institute, their project will examine the welfare consequences of climate-induced displacement in Bangladesh. With millions of rural families vulnerable to existential threats to their livelihoods from rapid environmental shifts in the coming decades, the extent to which households are able to successfully migrate to cities and take advantage of urban amenities will dramatically shape climate change’s impact. This project seeks to quantify these impacts through a combination of satellite data and surveys in the field.
