Rebecca Horwitz-Willis

Rebecca Horwitz-Willis is a PhD candidate in Education and a Harvard Mellon Urban Initiative graduate fellow at Harvard University. Her work explores the historical relationship between race, education, and social policy with a focus on the development of urban schooling in the 20th century. Rebecca has taught courses on race and equity in education and the history of school segregation at the Harvard Graduate School of Education, and she has worked as a teaching fellow at HGSE and Harvard Law School. She serves as a research advisor for MA Appleseed Center for Law and Justice and is a member of the Chapter 222 Coalition of the MA Education Law Task Force. Rebecca holds a JD from the University of Texas School of Law, a EdM from Harvard University in Education Policy, and a BA from Rutgers University in Political Science. Prior to her work at Harvard, she worked as an educator in the Bay Area, CA, and as a lawyer in Austin, TX.
