Ori Ben-Shalom

Ori Ben-Shalom is a second-year PhD student in the Department of the History of Science at Harvard. Ori is interested in the history of medicine in early modern Europe, particularly in the Italian peninsula. His dissertation examines the use of historical and antiquarian practices in 18th-century Italian medicine. Combining intellectual, social, and institutional histories of medicine, he analyzes the ways in which Enlightenment physicians approached the past as a critical scientific tool. Ori graduated from from the Adi Lautman Interdisciplinary Program for Outstanding Students at Tel Aviv University, where he also received an M.A. in History.
