Lucy Ballard

Lucy Ballard is a PhD Candidate in the Committee on the Study of Religion. Her research is situated in the fields of contemporary Islamic Studies, American religion, and critical racial and ethnic studies. She is currently working on a dissertation that uses ethnographic methods to examine U.S. Muslim faith-based anti-racist education and activism and their impact on intra-Muslim ethnic relations in two major metropolitan areas: Detroit, MI and Charlotte, NC. Originally from North Carolina, Lucy holds an MTS in Islamic Studies from Harvard Divinity School and a BA in Religious Studies from Appalachian State University.
