Areti Kotsoni

Areti Kotsoni is an Architectural Researcher originally from Crete, Greece. Her work lies at the intersection of urbanism, cartography, migration, and memory. Her current research focuses on women's agency in the fragmented urban space of Cyprus, where she looks at how the contested public urban space enables their interaction and encourages their bicommunal activities. This research is part of her graduate thesis project supervised by Prof. Antoine Picon.

Areti has a background in Architectural Engineering from the Technical University of Crete, where she was the first student in the 15-year history of the school to graduate on time and with excellence. Before coming to the GSD, Areti worked and taught in several labs, offices, and schools in Greece and Italy, in the fields of architecture, urbanism, materials science, and interior design. She is currently a second-year student in the Master in Design Studies in Urbanism, Landscape, and Ecology at Harvard Graduate School of Design. For her studies at Harvard, Areti received grants and scholarships from Harvard University, the Harvard Hellenic Fund, the Onassis Foundation, the Sylvia Ioannou Foundation, and the Foundation of Education and European Culture.
