Beyond oil, what is there to be learned about the history of climate change from the perspective of Houston? Drawing from a new archive, the talk focuses upon the rise during the 1970s and after of the Houston-based Hines Real Estate company, one of the largest real estate development firms in the world.</p><p>	Registration is required for this event. Lunch will be provided.</p><h3>	About the Speakers</h3><p>	<a href="https://history.uchicago.edu/directory/Jonathan-Levy" title="">Jonathan Levy</a> is the James Westfall Thompson Professor in the Department of History and Committee on Social Thought at the University of Chicago. Urban Conversations is chaired by <a href="internal:/people/bruno-carvalho" title="">Bruno Carvalho</a> and <a href="internal:/people/daniel-agbiboa" title="">Daniel Agbiboa</a>, and is co-sponsored with the <a data-url="https://mahindrahumanities.fas.harvard.edu/about" href="https://mahindrahumanities.fas.harvard.edu/about" title="">Mahindra Humanities Center at Harvard</a>.</p><p>	See also: <a href="https://mahindrahumanities.fas.harvard.edu/event-series/urban-conversations">Urban Conversations</a>, <a href="https://mahindrahumanities.fas.harvard.edu/calendar/upcoming/event-type/public">Public</a></p>
