Mapping Socialist Nodes in a Global Network, 1900-1917

Red London: A visual interpretation of the 1896 International Workers' Peace March (Story Map)

"Mapping Nodes in a Global Socialist Network, 1900-1917," uses location and population data from socialist publications and correspondence in three cities, New York, London, and Kraków, to visualize the urban landscape of organization at the turn of the twentieth century, and trace patterns of migration, labor, and political thought along the great migration routes of the twentieth century. The ultimate goal of the project is to make available to the general public a comparative, interactive digital map of socialist organizing locations, including migration data, as a visual aid in understanding the political and demographic landscapes of urban centers in the twentieth century.
