This project is an attempt to map the architectural sites created by Armenian architects in Istanbul, primarily during the late Ottoman period. Its final incarnation represents merely the first steps towards creating a comprehensive database and map of the architecture of Armenian architects during this time. Building on this foundation, scholars and the public can add their research to help reach the ultimate goal of comprehensiveness.

This project serves as a platform onto which researchers can add materials as it is gathered. The hope is that, over time, we can map a comprehensive landscape of the architecture in the 19th century Istanbul that was built by Ottoman Armenian architects. This will help us visualize and reconsider the role of Ottoman Armenian architects, and encourage us to more closely examine the relationship between Armenians and the Ottoman state in the 19th century.
