Scott Smith

Scott March Smith is a Boston-based designer who has played, studied, and taught music in western Massachusetts, campaigned for progressive politicians in southern California, and worked for LGBT equality in Washington, DC. A native of the DC suburbs, Scott holds a Masters in Architecture with distinction from the Harvard Graduate School of Design and a BA in music from Amherst College. While participating in the GSD’s studio abroad with Toyo Ito, Scott’s design for a shared house to bring urban residents to the rural island of Omishima was selected for design development and construction. His master’s thesis, presented in January 2017, explored improvisation as a method of producing objects and space.
